Cornpop Approves!

News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a bold move aimed at tackling one of the most pressing issues facing the next generation, President Biden has unveiled his latest executive action: a plan to eliminate late fees for Blockbuster movie rentals.

Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic supporters outside a dilapidated Blockbuster store, Biden declared, “It’s time to right this historic wrong and bring justice to the millions of Americans who have been unfairly burdened by overdue VHS tapes.”

Under Biden’s plan, anyone who has ever suffered the indignity of shelling out $5 for returning Titanic a few days late will receive a full refund, paid for in full by your fellow taxpayers.

“But I never rented Forrest Gump or Terminator 2 and racked up massive late fees!” said one frustrated American citizen. “Why should I have to foot the bill for your inability to slide a VHS tape back through the mail slot?”

“Late fees are a relic of a bygone era, like dial-up internet and affordable groceries,” said Biden. “It’s time to drag Blockbuster into the present-day 19th century and eliminate fees once and for all.”

Go here to read the rest.  But when is he going to do something about the outrageous price of television rabbit ears?

The Dems would have too.

Our politicians do as they wish through the ridiculous overreach of the interstate commerce clause and ignoring the principle of non-interference in private contracts.

I wonder, if the Founding Fathers knew what knaves we were to have in government, would they have strengthened the constitution or just given up and founded an American monarchy.

At least we still seem to be in somewhat better place than the England we broke away from.

The knaves serving in government were legion during the time of our founding fathers. Our problem seem to stem from the true statement the patriot who served as our second President who stated, (this is not presented as an exact quote).” Our Republican form of government is only suited to a religious and moral people”. Notice the word “Republican”, i get irritated by this misnomer, democracy. BUT HEY, we may be the first nation that gave ourself away. (Wonder how many “newcomers “ we got today.)

I had those wise words of President Adams in mind when I wrote my comment. (It is telling that the mantelpiece in the White House that bore a similar inscription was retired during a renovation)

The difference of the knavery in Adams’ America and ours is that in his time few defended knavery in principle however much they may have participated in practice.

That difference seems to be the true crisis of the modern West.
