Actually Prince Philip advised Queen Mary to be moderate in her efforts to restore Catholicism in England. However this incident does remind me what a great Spanish historian said about Spain in the 19th Century:
Melendez Pelayo: “Spain, evangelizer of the middle of the world; Spain hammer of heretics, light of Trent, sword of Rome, cradle of Saint Ignatius; that is our greatness and our unity; we have no other.”
You could cry for the Spain of today. A leftist, godless nation. Except for the “right-wing” (as they are labelled) Conservative minority. May Spain be restored back to her Catholic roots.
I was stationed in Spain for two years in the early 90’s. Heard that song every morning.
