Lent With Saint Thomas More

From The Sadness of Christ:

And besides all this he goeth forth further and declareth that if any man, when need requireth,
will refuse to go to death with him, he shall not avoid bodily death thereby, but fall from that to a worse.
And contrariwise whosoever will not stick to bestow his life for me, saith he, he shall not lose his life at
all but change it for a better. ‘For he that will save his life shall lose it, and he that will lose his life for
my sake shall find it. And what good getteth a man, if he win the whole world and loseth his soul
withal? Or what exchange will any man make for his soul? For the Son of Man shall come with his
angels in the glory of his Father, and then shall he reward every man according to his doings.’

Doubtless Richard Rich selling himself for Wales came to Sir Thomas as he was writing this passage.

Seems appropriate to use this post on the Sadness of Christ to bring up yet another in the continuing series of howlers from the lefties who call themselves Catholic, in this instance, the Olympic-class popesplainer at a certain blog with the initials WPI.

As many here may be aware, two days ago Cardinal Burke began a nine-month novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe. As of yesterday there were over 80,000 people who had signed up to participate and to receive twice-monthly reflections from Cdl. Burke, culminating in a consecration to La Virgen on her feast day, December 12. The text of the daily prayer is as follows:

“O Virgin Mother of God, we fly to your protection and beg your intercession against the darkness and sin which ever more envelop the world and menace the Church. Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, gave you to us as our mother as He died on the Cross for our salvation. So too, in 1531, when darkness and sin beset us, He sent you, as Our Lady of Guadalupe, on Tepeyac to lead us to Him Who alone is our light and our salvation.

Through your apparitions on Tepeyac and your abiding presence with us on the miraculous mantle of your messenger, Saint Juan Diego, millions of souls converted to faith in your Divine Son. Through this novena and our consecration to you, we humbly implore your intercession for our daily conversion of life to Him and the conversion of millions more who do not yet believe in Him. In our homes and in our nation, lead us to Him Who alone wins the victory over sin and darkness in us and in the world.

Unite our hearts to your Immaculate Heart so that they may find their true and lasting home in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Ever guide us along the pilgrimage of life to our eternal home with Him. So may our hearts, one with yours, always trust in God’s promise of salvation, in His never-failing mercy toward all who turn to Him with a humble and contrite heart. Through this novena and our consecration to you, O Virgin of Guadalupe, lead all souls in America and throughout the world to your Divine Son in Whose name we pray. Amen.‍”

Now, according to the perpetrator of the WPI blog, the aforementioned novena shows “…the Catholic right has now added protest novenas to its weaponized liturgy and battle rosaries.” He also has posted at least one lengthy diatribe accusing Cdl Burke of “violating Lumen Gentium 25.”

This man is unwell. Pray for him.

Frank: I sounds like WPI is wishing to correct some of the oversights he feels our Church’s Founder made. In the old days, we would send it to the circular file. Today, we hit the delete key.
