Well, Duh

My grandmother was not a high school graduate, raising six kids during the Great Depression occupied all of her time, but she explained this fact of life to me when I was quite young.  Glad to know we have a “study” to back up what all men and women have known since the Garden of Eden.

I recall a book which came out decades ago called Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus…and that’s just one example of a book from my lifetime…every existing society thinks they were the first ones to invent the wheel…

The best engineer with whom I have ever worked was the emergency diesel generator engineer at the now decommissioned Indian Point 3 nuclear power plant. That said, the overwhelming majority of engineers in both Naval and commercial nuclear power are men, not women. Indeed, at my current place of employment – Neutrons ‘R Us – while there are some women engineers, most are men. Women tend to inhabit non-technical disciplines like marketing, human resources, licensing and regulatory affairs, etc., places where they can talk instead of do. I have great respect for all my women colleagues who often perform twice as good as men when occupying similar engineering roles. But women are fundamentally different (on average), and with some happy exceptions even here at TAC, most women don’t do well in STEM –> Science, Tchnology, Engineering, Math.

Sadly, however, most corporations nowadays (nuclear and non-nuclear) have embraced the fallacious “Equal by Thirty” program of diversity and inclusion that gives preferrential treatment to women.

https://www.equalby30.org/

I have protested about this before because everyone – man and woman – should be judged on his or her merits (meritocracy), NOT by sex or race or national origin or religion or even sexual preference. Artificially promoting unqualified women (or blacks or gays or whatever) on the basis of some protected characteristic is particularly dangerous and foolhardy in industries like nuclear, aerospace, medical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, etc., where malformed technical decisions can result in injury or deaths of an uncountable multitude of people. I specifically pointed out to corporate leadership that if a black gay woman is technically more qualified than a white straight man, then by all means promote her; but if the white straight man is more qualified than the black gay woman, then he must be promoted. That logic was summarily dismissed as non-inclusive, non-tolerant, and divisive. And those employees beholden to the Democratic Party were likewise up in arms about this, offended into their safe spaces by what they called a chilling prejudice and bias.

I am therefore convinced that there is no rescue to be had from this insane situation. We as a nation will have to follow those societies before us who became complacent and narcissistic in their wealth and ease of living.

  1. Tough times create strong men.
  2. Strong men create prosperous societies.
  3. Prosperous societies create an indolent, complacent, and corrupt populace.
  4. An indolent, complacent, and corrupt populace create tough times.

Guess which step we are on.

We live in a time when our “feelings” are more important than facts. My profession, Pharmacy, is overrun with women who want to be in the “clean” part of medicine and take time off for babies and homes. Meanwhile the men of the business take on the brunt of the work while the ladies form committees and talk a problem to death.

This is why men do not have babies.

take time off for babies and homes. Meanwhile the men of the business take on the brunt of the work..

That’s a rather rubbish attitude. Yes that’s what they are doing, having cocktails at home looking after babies and fluffing the couch pillows.

It must be nice to wake up in the morning, stretch, get yourself ready for work, drink your coffee and read the paper, go to work and exercise your ego, have a long hour lunch break and scroll through the news, drive home listening to the radio, go for a jog, sit down and eat dinner, watch some tv/scroll on the internet.

A typical day for a working mother is to wake up in the morning, prepare the kids for school, make lunches and get breakfast ready, get themselves ready, drop kids off at school, go to work (usually work through their lunch break or catch up in school emails); pick up the kids, help with homework, drop/pickup kids from after school activities, make dinner, put a load of washing on/hang/fold, bath the kids, serve dinner, wash up, put kids to bed. All the while supporting their husbands, dealing with work emails and being a shoulder for everyone’s problems. And before you advocate for “stay at home mothers”, maybe you can venture out and look at the cost of living.

Go thank the mothers in your life who work. They would appreciate it.

LQC, I worked in engineering for nigh unto 30 years. Being a natural girl geek born before her time, I did my job very well in a field that was predominantly men. That being said, yes, we are different. Definitely. BTW, the worst bosses I ever had were women. Tended to make personality-based decisions and “chat” too long during meetings. Also, men who don’t like you may try to do you dirt, but are usually up front about it. Women will, metaphorically speaking, stab you in the back and poison your coffee. Shakespeare’s Lady M is their role model.

South Coast, we just lost a month ago a very good requirements traceability engineer who by accident of birth was also a woman. The loss was due to company “right sizing.” She would often push back on some of my technical work, and she would stick to her guns. She was very annoying. But I miss her terribly because she made my work better than it would have otherwise been. She asked me to be a professional reference for her in her search for new employment.

We got another woman in the organization who was promoted to senior manager simply because she could talk all the liberal BS and because she’s female. She had once proposed doing away with control rods, and shimming core reactivity on boron concentration alone. The Navy tried a variant of that no control rod idea at MARF (Modified Advanced Reactor Facility) in upstate NY. Instead of boron shim, it used water in gadolinium tubes. What a freaking idiotic nightmare that plant was. If there’s a damn fool idea to try, the US Navy will try it no matter the cost. At the point of adding heat reactor power go from the intermediate range to screaming into the power range, and back down again. No fine control of reactivity. In the case of this girl I am talking about, the problem would be different. Boron would rock out of solution and block fuel coolant channels. Either way, a no control rod idea was damn foolish. Yet her idea (regardless of Navy experience to the contrary) was given serious consideration. What killed it, thankfully, was the impossibility of getting the US NRC to buy into the idea – thank God! But as I said, that woman got promoted to senior manager. She is the most visious, back-stabbing canis (Latin feminine noun – translation rhymes with witch) you would ever meet. She even stabbed my boss in the back one time. I won’t go into details here. Thankfully, in nuclear power, a person like her is the exception, and the ONLY reason she has gotten ahead is because the company is liberal progressive Democrat.

But I don’t want to give you all the wrong idea. That woman is an exception. Most of the girls at Neutrons ‘R Us are top notch. It’s just that boys will always outnumber girls in STEM because we ARE different, and I say, Viva la difference!

LQC, your nightmare must have been separated at birth from my own political appointee, my last Deputy Director, who wasn’t even an engineer and who seemed to actively hate all engineers for being smarter than she. I ended up taking early retirement along withvalmost everyone else who could. Soon after, she was given a new position in a broom closet until she, too, could retire. But the damage was done.

I did want to add something. My sister was a Hospital Corpsman Chief Petty Officer with a Marine Corps detatchment in the 1st Gulf War when Bush Senior was President. She saw and did things that few if any of us here can imagine, and no, she doesn’t discuss them (for good reason – living nightmares are best left forgotten).

Obviously I believe in the Biblical doctrine of complimentarianism – men and women are equal in dignity but different in function. But we must be careful and never dismiss great women whom God raised up when men failed to do what needed to be done, like Deborah and Ja’el in Judges, and Judith. Personally, I don’t think women should serve in combat or aboard man ‘o wars (like submarines) because we men need to step up to the plate and do our job to protect our society. Nevertheless, women do now serve and honorably so in the Armed Forces, my very own sister being an example of having been in the middle of combat that you can only imagine. So I say we give respect to these women who serve, whether in the military or in industry. Many of those women far excel me in perseverence and wisdom. And sadly, we live in a fallen world where all of us have fallen short of doing what God has commanded. So regardless of my misgivings about women usurping roles traditionally assigned to men, these heroic women deserve a hand salute and all our respect.

There is a rather notorious commenter on the Instapundit blog who, whenever the subject of transgenderism comes up, insists that it is real and that it is scientifically based and that conservatives who oppose it are “morons”. His argument is that there are clear differences between the male and female brain, therefore, a man with a “female” brain or a woman with a “male” brain has genuine gender dysphoria and has every right to use hormonal or surgical treatment to align their gender identity with their brain. A prime example of a truth being twisted to serve a lie.

I find that men who feel threatened by a female in a role (where the woman is going about her business doing her job) are particularly insecure individuals. The same is true of power-welding women. Insecurity creates toxic and unnecessary competitiveness.

I don’t believe that God raised up great women to do the job because men failed. I believe he chose the women because he knew they would serve him better. We can’t forget that St Joan of Arc led an army. St Catherine of Siena is a Doctor of the Church. St Mother Theresa brought about a ceasefire. All these women did their roles because God knew they could do it the best, not because a man failed and they were Gods second choice.

But great women aside, God chose His only Son to be born of a woman. A great woman who quietly went about her life caring for Jesus, caring for Joseph, dealing with her neighbours and doing what appeared to others as insignificant. She became the greatest of all women.

Men and women are very different but the narrative from certain men is a false one when it becomes a competition of who is the strongest and bravest and some men do this well when they feel threatened or burnt by toxic women. Im surprised by some comments and attitudes from the men here. It’s not a competition. Go ask Our Lady.
