Price had an amazing voice. I remember him from narrating the Thriller film clip. Iconic.

As a boy I was a fan of the Universal Studios monster films, which were shown weekday afternoons on TV. I also subscribed to a magazine called “Famous Monsters of Filmland.” I remember being upset when Christopher Lee’s portrayal of Dracula began to be hailed as the standard, replacing Bela Lugosi. That is, until I saw one of his Dracula movies. He was completely convincing. His Saruman was also outstanding, IMO.
Vincent Price settled into the horror genre (The Tingler still freaks me out!), probably for the steady income, but he was a fine actor in his own right. His performance in The Song of Bernadette (Today is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes) made a wonderful film all the better. 🙂
Vincent Price also appears as Baka, the Pharaoh’s chief builder in “The Ten Commandments”.
