They are going to continue the charade until he clinches the nomination. Then he will politely withdraw from the race and the Democrats will have a brokered convention and select Gavin Newsome.
I don’t see Newsome as an improvement on Biden electorally for the Democrats. The word is out around the nation that California is a place to flee from. I wouldn’t be surprised if they run Clinton again. Tanned, rested and ready.
The MSM has been touting Kamala’s popularity in S. Carolina for the last day or two (??? I can almost see all the mail-in votes now!) … If the Dems sideline the sitting VP in favor of an old rich white lady, they can kiss a fat percentage of the black vote goodbye. African Americans will stay at home more than they did in 2016.

Wm. Schneider contended a generation ago that survey research had demonstrated that the VP candidate will net you on average 2% of the ballots in said candidate’s home state. If the home state was not closely divided, there was nothing to be gained electorally from any VP candidate. There was, he contended, some risk on the downside if your VP candidate proved to be a distraction (a la Thos. Eagleton and Geraldine Ferraro). Harris was selected to throw a bone to that vain fool, James Clyburn. The principal reason to keep her around is that Clyburn et al would fancy they’ve been ‘dissed’ if she were tossed off the ticket.

Ok, this is the post on which I intended this comment. I am getting to be as brain damaged as Biden. 🙁
I despise Biden for everything that he has done for the many decades that he has been suckling off the teat of the taxpayer. Nevertheless, what is being done to him is elder abuse. He needs to be retired to a nursing home for the mentally infirm, and humanely cared for till he passes from from this life and stands before Jesus Christ the Just Judge. We got an imbecile President who has lost his wits, and an imbecile Pope who never had any wits. That the two major leaders in the world – the US President and the Catholic Pontiff – are both imbeciles is surely God’s punishment on a wicked, idolatrous, and adulterous generation.

Newsom polls worse than Biden. The democrats are stuck with Biden. That’s because the only alternative is Kamala Harris, who is no alternative at all. But passing over a sitting VP woman of color with a white guy all the while Trump is making inroads in the black and Hispanic communities is a big no bueno for the left.
