PopeWatch: Bad Pope

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.

19th Degree Grand Pontiff
A non-Catholic Pope since Jorge refused to serve as “The Vicar of Christ.” Aha, Bergoglio is a symbolic Pope.
Non-Catholic bad pope
You know that scene in Indiana Jones, where Indy throws the date up In the air, but is stopped from eating it..
“Bad pope.”
I wish “Faithless, petty and tyrannical Pope” was a choice.
Proud, mendacious and intellectually limited Pope.
Definitely a bad pope, but still pope. Just like Biden is a bad Catholic and bad President, but nevertheless still holds both titles.
He’s a bad Pope who refuses to carry out the responsibilities of his office.
I’m inclined to ask if Bergoglio has had a salutary effect in any venue. It wouldn’t surprise me to discover that if you carefully questioned people who had dealt with Francis in meatspace, you might find a number that did not have much trouble putting up with him, but you wouldn’t find anyone who was truly fond of him when all was said and done.
Non catholic pope, but It is hard to imagine a worst pope. And I’m including Alexander II. We are all sinners and Alexander took it to a new level, but the damage that the current guy is inflicting on the church far outweighs what happened with Alexander.
I’m at the point of this disease where just I’m lying in bed, feeling horrible and waiting to get better.
Does it really matter if it’s Covid or the flu?
Naming it does not console or give any real actions to cure.
I have had Covid three times. Each time for me it was exhaustion the first couple of days and then weakness for two weeks. My bouts of flu tend to be nastier.
Yeah, this pontificate stinks to highest heaven, no matter how e interpret the Pope.
He seems to be the first post-Catholic pope, much like Obama was the first post-American president.
He is the worst in my life (65yrs) and that’s all that matters. He was a affirmative action hire. We couldn’t have another European guy and does his lack of intellect really matter? Never a Jesuit again. I add another choice. Loser-pope. Never have been a fan of his and await the next Conclave with eager hopes. How about a real Catholic this time?
Bad pope.
His talent to be ambiguous and promote confusion is why I rate him bad. Poor choices… Cardinal Fernandez being just the most recent one, and allowing a letter to create an idea of approval where there is none, ie same sex blessings. I truly believe that we received a fruit that we deserved, in this case decades of rotting apples…. sinful clergymen… and misguided bishops who had the chance to right the wrong but instead recirculating the troubled clergy.
Low seminarian count?
No wonder, when you had wolves grooming potential prey. Push the truly good called young men out of the sem by shenanigans and foul play.
Micheal Rose; A Few Good Men.
( going from memory here )
It could be that Francis is part of a revealing needed for future cleansing… but I don’t know.
Just wondering aloud.
Jorge the heretic.
Jorge properly pronounced is “Hor-hay.”
So Jorge the heretic rolls off the tongue.
Not Catholic and Bad Pope. He is leading non discerning Catholics down the road to Perdition with his appoinments of bad priests to Church hierarchy, and his herectical pronouncements. Add his cancellation of good priests, when he should be cleansing house of very bad, very sinful priests.
correction…
Good Bye Good Men by Michael Rose.
Bad, yet I fear the next will be worse.
Interesting observations and context. Hard to argue that PF has been more than improvident in some of his remarks and actions. As a side note, the often made comparisons with Alexander VI are a bit off the mark. Alexander was most certainly a disgrace to the office in his personal behavior. One of his attributes, almost always overlooked, was his staunch orthodoxy in theological matters in which he brooked no dissent. Best evidence is that he died with the sacraments and hopefully the old reprobate reconciled himself to God and eternity before passing.
A bad Pope, but Pope nevertheless. He has uttered several material heresies. At the start of his pontificate, at the world youth day, he told the youth to “Make a Mess”. Mess is chaos, & opposed to order; Order is Divine, and Chaos is demonic, so I sometimes call him ‘anti-pope’ not so much in the theological meaning of the word, but in so far as he has contradicted all the more recent popes back to Leo XIII. He has caused much damage in the Church, but as Michael Matt says, it didn’t start with him. Let’s pray that it ends with him.
