The Pope lives in a universe populated by Peronist good guys and bad guys and nothing will shift the mental framework he had firmly in place as a very young man. He is unteachable by words or by events, and thus he repeats his favorite themes ad nauseum.

When, Lord?
Chinese, Middle East, South and Central America inhabitants are trekking where exactly?
Oh… yeah, the old military industrial complex nation, that’s where.
Interesting huh?
The Holocaust may be one of the most obvious cases where war DID good. Without allied conquest of the death camps, they would have continued.
The German people were not going to stop them and the Nazis had certainly not changed their minds in the subject.
When our stupider assertions go unchallenged, we do do not profit from it. He needs a Thomas to anger him and make him a better man. On the feast of St Paul we should remember it is possible for those who wield power wretchedly to be reformed.
I’m not sure St. John Paul II or Pope Benedict XVI would have said much different on this topic.
The peace of Christ will never be won by force of arms. It’s not bad to be reminded of that fact from time to time. Isn’t that the peace we should be striving for above all?
Spiritual peace should be sought by all Christians. Christ noted that we would always have wars and rumors of war. Beware of any plan of action that attempts to assume that humanity can be transformed and behave differently from how humanity has behaved in all recorded history. Beyond that, Pope Francis believes that wars are caused by evil men for profits, and that is simply not true of the vast majority of wars which are caused by deep seated conflicts between groups.
It’s long overdue for this clown to get pushed off his high horse.

Matthew 10:34-36
34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household.
Cain did not need an “arms merchant” to kill his brother.
Interestingly, while Chesterton and Belloc both criticized war profiteering during WWI, neither ever blamed it for starting the war: that was all on German aggression (abetted by Austrian stupidity).
A war of self defense is self defense. What part of self defense does Pope Francis deny? His own. His Swiss Guard needs to disband. Hypocrisy
Wars of aggression need to be stopped. That is why we have Armed Forces.
Little known fact: Even the Swiss Guards have modern weapons stored in an undisclosed secure area.
