Note to self, never pick up iguanas you think are dead and transport home in car.
😂
Never Touch an iguana I still have scars on my arm from An iguana attack when I was in college 50 years ago.
Mmm – mmm! Chicken of the trees! We do love Iguana harvest season here in Florida!
Iguana Recipes
“Ask any iguana you happen to see, what’s the best lizard, iguana from the trees!”
This sounds good CAG;
Iguana Tacos/Burritos
For people who aren’t accustomed to cooking iguana, it is suggested that an easier route may be to make iguana tacos or burritos.
Ingredients:
Iguana meat (cooked and cut into small pieces)
Onion
Chives
Avocado
Lime
Chili-lime seasoning
Curry or taco seasoning
Sour cream
Salsa
Whole wheat tortillas or taco shells
While preparing to cut the meat, make sure you use the proper knife.
That’s not a knife mate. This is a knife.
I laughed at “Chicken of the Skies.*
Sorry Charlie.
oops…. tree’s, not skies.
Having lived in both Illinois nd Florida, I prefer and can co-exist with the Iguanas. The Illinois cold, not so much.
A zookeeper told the tale of a Midwest zoo in the 1950s that stored its torpid alligators for the winter in the cold basement of the main building, stacked like cordwood. Things got interesting when a young janitor accidentally turned on the furnace one February.
The iguanas on Gitmo are huge. After the command inspection an all hands BBQ was on the beach. The cove was mostly surrounded by what appeared to be coral or rocks. I was asured that the 3 to 4 foot plus iquanas up on the rocks wouldn’t join us snorklers in the water. Hmmm I think I passed on chicken that day and had a hamburger.
The only local food I returned to Norfolk with was jars of homemade mango chutney,
With boys some of their pets can be unusual. My older son was interested in reptiles in middle school. We had 2 ball pythons,Oberon and Tatanya, a garden snake that surprised us with 13 babies , black snakes, a yellow corn, snake, etc, .lizards and an iguana in a 3′ terrarium. They all ate different foods – gold fish, pinkies which are baby mice w/o fur, regular mice, mealy worms crickets and for the iguana lot of collards. The priest at the Blessing on the Animals was taken aback with two kids each holding a python but then he relented and blessed “since they were God’s creatures”.
Later on 2 ferrets that thankfully the boys next door adopted. From then on it was just dogs and cats.
