Don – is this accurate?
I thought I read that he was sentenced to hard labor and died as a result.
While the forgiveness by the royals may be accurate, I have (tragically) become skeptical of Jesuit sources.
Because he was under 21 he was sentenced to 20 years hard labor. He died of illness while incarcerated in 1916.
