Yep. A dumbed down, drugged and sexualized society, where the family is extinct, is a living nightmare far more pernicious than 1984. Freedom becomes meaningless in such an environment.

I used to wonder if what we were living through was more like 1984, A Brave New World or That Hideous Strength.
Then I realized the answer was “Yes,” with a little Logan’s Run for flavor.

What often drives me crazy is that these works are known. They are not obscure or unread. Yet, people do not seem to grasp the warning.
Could it be that the religion of progress and pleasure is simply stronger than any reasonable fears that such fiction presents?

One point about Brave New World: the rulers (Alphas) kept themselves aloof from all the dumbing-down hyper-hedonism. I don’t see that happening with ours, who seem as caught up in it as the rest.

You can’t help but think that this is all skewed in favour of a certain type of single people who have no desire to grow up. We currently have a society filled with people walking around in nappies (diapers) being dumbed down by social media who live life with themselves at the centre of the universe. I wonder how the reality-check is going to play out- it won’t be pleasant for one thing. All things come crashing back to reality eventually. It’s going to hurt.

Yep. They have failed to learn the lesson of all successful ruling classes: don’t drink your own Kool-Aid.
