Colorado Supreme Court Wants to Refight Our Civil War

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Section 3, 14th Amendment

This was an attempt by Republicans in Congress to deprive the South of the ability after the Civil War to elect to Congress men who had backed the Confederacy and who had served prior to the War as military officers, in Congress, in the state legislatures, or as a Judge or Governor or Lieutenant Governor.   In short it was an attempt to render the South politically leaderless. It was rendered a historical curiosity by the pardon of all former Confederates by President Andrew Johnson on December 25, 1868.

That this Civil War misbegotten artifact has been resurrected by opponents of Orange Man Bad, shows how bizarre our politics have become.  The Colorado Supreme Court, in a 4-3 vote, has ruled that Trump under Article Three must be kept off the ballot in Colorado.  Now this goes to the Supreme Court, who, I assume, will rule that this sloppily written relic should descend back into the obscurity that it warrants.

Actually, what the court is Colorado is demonstrating is that partisan Democrats are unfit to sit on the bench.

It must be politically poisonous to impeach members of the judiciary. It happens so rarely. There must be a reason.

These poor excuses for jurists, and all of their kind, remind me of a certain character in the Lord of the Rings. Their “reasoning” greatly resembles his.

Write Trump’s name in the line for write-ins.
This court in Colorado ought to be working on saving their unborn citizens, innocent sovereign souls created by “their Creator” to pursue their Happiness and attain heaven.
or maybe this court is already in hell here on earth…killing babies.
