When I see what Pope Francis has done with Catholic teaching, I keep thinking of caffeine free Mtn Dew. Even though some no doubt sewar by it, it makes me wonder what practical purpose it serves.

Why an announcement of something priests do for any sinner? Because by framing it as same-sex blessings more error and confusion will surface. Error by priests who want to bless these unions which will taint the faithful with the idea that the Church is blessing the unions which it isn’t.
It is recalled that “from a strictly liturgical point of view,” the blessing requires that what is blessed “be conformed to God’s will, as expressed in the teachings of the Church.”
Are two homosexually active couples, who have zero interest in being celibate, going to receive a blessing from a Catholic Priest???
Unless they honestly want to live in harmony with God will, will a blessing be efficacious. Otherwise it’s only a feather in the cap of two homosexuals who can parade the idea that their union is valid.
Abuse, not harmony, will be the blessings de’jour.
I do pray for the conversion of sinners.
Maybe that is what we need to hear from the Vatican. An announcement that all faithful children of God pray unceasingly for the conversion of all sinners, and especially for the mentally ill who are using their reproductive rights to foster unnatural acts which demean and degrade the human person, equivalent to an animal, void of higher reason and lacking in self control.
If the bar is set so low that Purgatory isn’t even a possibility then why on earth do you portray yourselves to be ambassadors of the one who set the bar.

These blessings should not necessarily become the norm, the Statement notes, but entrusted to “a practical discernment in particular circumstances” (par. 37).
Although the couple is blessed but not the union, the Declaration notes that what is blessed is the legitimate relationship between the two people: in “a brief prayer preceding this spontaneous blessing, the ordained minister could ask that the individuals have peace, health, a spirit of patience, dialogue, and mutual assistance—but also God’s light and strength to be able to fulfill his will completely” (par. 38)

Sometimes I think that the road to perdition is being blacktopped and widened by forces that should seek to demolish it…. but hey. I’m just a rigid traditional catholic.
Just remember that its the narrow road, the path difficult and strenuous, that leads to clear fresh living waters.

It’s going to happen much like Communion in the hand came about. Prior to Vatican II and immediately after, such a thing was unthinkable. Later, receiving in the hand began “in the spirit of Vatican II”, despite it being a prohibited liturgical abuse. Then, it was condoned, for those who wanted it, but it “wasn’t necessarily the norm…”. Until, suddenly, it was the norm.
This nightmare pontificate cannot end too soon. But I fear for what comes after…

I just read this quote from S.J. Fr. Martin via Lifesite news;

Nobody is against the desire for a neighbor to be united to God. Just the opposite is true. Nobody with an ounce of compassion wishes to see anyone… Anyone… separated from God, thus the possibility of this backfiring on the LBGTect. community. Backfiring by misinterpreting the word salad. By believing that the Holy Catholic Church approves of same sex unions and the possibility of same sex marriage which will never happen. Not in the HOLY Catholic Church.
A committed and loving relationship is one void of mortal sin. We all work on that goal, heterosexual or otherwise. I pray that this salad isn’t filled with Salmonella for the sake of the body of Christ.

This was waiting to happen eventually – All it took was for a pushover Pope like Francis to come along and turn it into free fall. The homosexuals hiding in the priesthood have been pushing this along behind the scenes for decades. The Catholic Church would have stood firm if it wasn’t for those gay priests looking to destroy it from within.
The priesthood which is meant to be carried out where the Priest shrinks himself in order to serve God (requiring humility) has turned into some sort of personality attracting participants and keeping them (much like a company manager or CEO). A perfect breeding ground for attention-seeking gay men. So naturally, they have now officially opened in up to a new demographic group. I’ve personally witnessed openly homosexual men in a city Parish cathedral walk up to take Holy Communion and the Priest administering Communion has said nothing! The act was arrogant and revolting and smug.
The article at Crisis Magazine sums up the problem in the Church which has manifested decades of rot. I’m sorry the good Priests have had to endure this silently.

Smarter people than I am have been saying for decades that, once the marital act is separated morally from its procreative purpose (which, prior to The Council™️, was its ONLY valid purpose under Church doctrine), the logical result is the inability morally to condemn any sexual act whatsoever. So along came simple and readily available artificial contraception, formally condemned by Paul VI but never enforced by him, winked at for the past 55 years or so by most in the hierarchy, and here we are. God weeps.
And to all those (not here, thankfully, at least so far) who are already Popesplaining this with the abundance of Jesuit word salad contained in the official document, I ask only: if this document is not, at the very least, a “wink wink” approval of same-sex unions, then why are the James Martin types all doing their victory dance all over the edifice of the Church? As the redoubtable Trad commentator Anthony Stine said this morning on his Return to Tradition podcast, “Francis makes all of James Martin’s Satanic dreams come true.” Yup.

Frank, the Catholic Church has never stated or believed that procreation is the ONLY purpose of sexuality. Only that openness to procreation is essential for the moral use of the sexual function.
