Thought For The Day

Like any good Peronist, the Pope tends to be motivated by spite and envy, and for an Argentinian the Yanquis tend to be preferred targets.

He knows his time is slipping away, and he wants to even as many scores as he can. If recent accounts are true, he has abandoned even the pretense of having legitimate reasons for lashing out at those he perceives as “enemies.” We should continue praying that he will be granted the chance to return to the way of Christ before it is too late. Hell is too terrible to wish on anyone.

Frank, Jorge is already in hell – a hell of his own making from his hatred of Yanquis and conservatives and traditionalists. The question is this: will he put aside his Latino angry and resentment against Americans to repent before he dies? Personally, I don’t think he will.

Aging and ailing dictators often conflate themselves with their revolution, the state, or the office. Be they Henry VIII, Castro, Peron, or any other. This guy is no different. Opposition to his idea is opposition to the faith. He is the personification. Just ask him…or Tucho.

I am grateful for this attitude to the US , without this kind of movement coming from the top, I would not have been as motivated to seek out the TLM. Just as our bumbler in Chief has upped gun sales to record levels , I believe this current Pontiff has done more to motivate people to the TLM than he realizes. Keep em coming Francis, the more you push away from tradition the more the faithful will up their game, nothing causes people to double down like the threat of having something taken away

He likes Cupich and Tobin and the like. He just hates anyone who opposes him. And he makes it known. Seriously, look at the energy he puts into punishing anyone who questions him. No wonder he has no time to celebrate the Holy Mass everyday.

Francis behaves like an abusive spouse. “I wouldn’t have had to punch you if you’d just learn to shut up and do as you’re told!”.

Of course, being a bully is about the only way he’s got of enacting his revolution in the Church. The embarrassing gobbledygook and stale platitudes in his encyclicals aren’t going to persuade anyone. And neither do his manipulated synods nor their predetermined results.

And that’s why the papal court of Francis has no place for men of integrity. After ten years of Francis, I cannot think of one upright man left in a position of influence in Rome. Francis has driven away or sidelined all the Pells, the Sarahs, the Burkes and the Arinzes.

I knew a neighbor very like Francis: son of immigrant parents from the same general area of Italy. He was the father of a large family, and was friendly and helpful when younger, but adamantly determined that things would go “his way or the highway”. Yes, he thought he was always right, but in the end it seems to make no difference, as long as he got his way. Eventually, he alienated half his kids and left the Church. Very sad.
Some folks just can’t accept the possibility they may be wrong, and in the end Will trumps Wisdom, rather like Denethor.
