My Dad did the same thing while working at a filling station when Mom and he were starting out, and money was beyond tight. Dad and Mom never did make much money but they had something greater: instinctual honesty. I have done my imperfect best to live up to this great legacy.

In the movie The Family Man staring Nicholas Cage, ( a type of It’s a Wonderful Life ) a glimpse of what might of been was granted to Nicholas’s character. His guardian angel is seen recording events happening on earth that are impressive to the inhabitants of heaven or depressing, depending upon the person’s choices to do the right thing.
A fun Holiday movie just in case you haven’t already seen it.
