If you are on Team Francis the Pope couldn’t care less what you have done.

I cannot imagine why any bishop would take on a notorious abuser like Rupnik and charge him with the care of any of the souls in his diocese— unless that bishop is a cynical, amoral man looking for a way to advance his own career in the Church, and indifferent to his flock.
I expect the current Bishop of Koper will be doing very well for himself under this pontificate. The Catholics of Koper on the other hand… not so much.
Dear Prudence
Won’t you open up your eyes?
Look around, around (round, round, round)
(Round, round, round, round, round)
Look around, around, around (round, round)
(Round, round, round, round, round)
Look around.
Is Koper the only diocese that hasn’t heard of Rupnik? Someone needs to organize a Barros-style revolt … If for no other reason than to hear the Pope call them all gossips. (A sin worse, apparently, than raping nuns)
Well, since the validity of the Mass/Eucharist has nothing to do with the holiness (or lack of) of the (presumably validly ordained) priest, it shouldn’t be a problem, right?
There is a dossier which documents this mans abuse of religious women over a period of 30 years. A dossier. For the Jesuits to have expelled him, is something, considering the Jesuits have a high bevel if tolerance. They gave him the choice of addressing these allegations and he stubbornly refused. He is most definitely being protected from high up. He knows something they don’t want the public to know and he is dangling it over the head of the powers that be. The only good outcome is if the faithful of Koper vote with their feet and refuse to be ministered by this creature. Walk out of his masses.
Ezabelle…Amen.
Walk out in unison.
When, exactly, is the time for pitchforks and torches?
Asking for a friend. In Slovenia.

Look, I get it. I think if this fellow showed up in my parish, I’d find another one. BUT, we do have this thing called “Innocent until proven guilty” (and he hasn’t been and may not be due to the massive corruption from higher up)
.
The Church teaches (as is my understanding) we need the Eucharist, and further, (again my understanding), the Church teaches that the holiness (or lack of) the priest is not an issue as long as the priest intends to celebrate the Mass as the Church intends and that the bread and wine become Body and Blood, etc.
.
The laity has basically rejected the teaching on contraception, among other teachings. They seem not to be particularly concerned about this one–and maybe we’d have better priests (I’m not sure.) If taking from this fellow was a person’s only option (and considering the lack of priests it may be), how many who honestly believe in the Eucharist will walk away?
I feel for the victims.
Sad.

A quiet monastery for years of reflection might serve the body of Christ better than a diocesan priest, no?
“… BUT, we do have this thing called “Innocent until proven guilty”
And yet, Pope Francis refuses to allow a trial …
