Ik. I thought it was a farce
Don’t believe what I say..but believe what I do.
SNL had a skit;
Hear me now and believe me later…we are here to, pump you up!
There’s a story that Michael Medved used to tell that goes back to his movie review days. He was about to appear on a network morning show, and the guest before him was a celebrity talking about eliminating land mines. The guest was treated as a humanitarian. Medved said that’s when he realized that the right would always lose, because the left thinks of their work as basic human decency and they think of the right’s work as partisan ideology. The same thing seems to fit here. It’s something like confirmation bias.

Just a hunch.
The communist way is to blame your adversary of the things oneself is doing. The ideology part is silly. Stan Laurel all over again.
Mary, everyone blames people for the things they themselves are doing. Jesus had some great lines about that. But if you’re not Jesus, that accusation is rhetorically worthless, because the people who make it are themselves doing what they accuse others of doing.
