PopeWatch: Merchants of Death Revisited

One of the Pope’s perennial themes.  PopeWatch assumes that he believes this, in which case the Pope is an idiot, completely unable to process the facts of the Ukrainian conflict.  This suits of course his inherent anti-Americanism and his policy of sucking up to tyrants.  Heckuva job Conclave of 2013, heckuva job.

This also hints of the old and tired, “blame the gun for the crime” game.

A tired trope. Cain never would have killed Abel had there not been rocks.

But didn’t he say Ukraine has a right do defend itself? What does he think they will use to do so?

“Where the workers are employed by the state, they must arm and organize themselves into special corps with elected leaders, or as a part of the proletarian guard. Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary. The destruction of the bourgeois democrats’ influence over the workers, and the enforcement of conditions which will compromise the rule of bourgeois democracy, which is for the moment inevitable, and make it as difficult as possible – these are the main points which the proletariat and therefore the League must keep in mind during and after the approaching uprising.”

-Karl Marx

Workers employed by the State

After the uprising, the great gun confiscation begins

I just find this interesting… that’s all.

Does PF forget that his own small army, the Swiss Guard, has fire arms and ammunition? It’s not all colorful uniforms and pick axes.

BillR, and Samson cut quite a swath with the jawbone of an ass. And there are always tent pegs.

@ SouthCoast.

Humm.
Pass a law to ban all asses and jawbones thereof, and you’ve eliminated the party of death.

I blame most of ancient Israel’s problems on jawbone and sling manufacturers.
