I think Don is right.
We seem much more likely to be on the edge of a heathen dictatorship than a decentralization of a fundamentally Christian society.
Nonetheless, it is somewhat inspiring to see that secular folks get the idea that things are so far wrong that they constitute a crisis of historic proportions.
Concur with Don & the Bruised Optimist. I also see similarities to the early stages of the French Revolution. It’s more than just the fact that the self-described “leading” publication of the left is named “Jacobin.” There are bands of radicals on all fronts trying to out radical the others and suppression of speech is now preferred by the majority of Democratic voters; according to RCP. The times are changing and it ain’t for the better.
“History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme.” – Mark Twain
The state of Rome and our present time offer some similarities to “Gladiator”. Corrupt and evil politics and political leaders ruling a nation of sheep with a few in the wilderness crying out for sanity. We would like to think the warning will be heeded this time but that is still open to question.

Never in human history have technological means been so conducive to a dictator state.
