Burn of the Day

Mr. Lafferty of Where Peter Ain’t Is, might recall that when a man has a sex obsessed thought that sounds as if it came from a sniggering teenager of 13 going through puberty, it is best to keep the thought private between himself and his confessor. Catholic men should always strive to be knights, ever chivalrous to Catholic ladies, rather than acting like porn addled adolescents.  Leftists tend to be most vile to women and minorities who fail to know their place and obey their Leftist “betters”.

I don’t know who this Lafferty person is, but he certainly is not in tune with the court of public opinion.
.
The photo is not sexualized. According to the latest in intersectional whatever, it is a photo of a white supremacist. Women who clothe themselves modestly in floral dresses are part of the hard-right, rad trad housewifery movement that is, I have on good authority, really just another form of White Supremacy.

Keep current, Bro

The obvious inuendo in his choice of words is noted. And hardly unique to him. I find such subtle references revolving around sex all too common among those who swing left of center, including Christians. He could have made his – wrong – point with other words that don’t conjure the images he had to know would be conjured.

With that said, what I find amazing is the habitual tendency to assume that anyone who doesn’t fall in line with the Left should be judged as harshly as possible, with malice, baddest motives, or anything negative attributed to the reasons why any non-leftist does anything. It happens so often you almost forget that isn’t how Catholics are supposed to engage in discourse.

Everything he writes is anathema. And it always comes with the oily sheen of a man who tries desperately to cultivate ambiguity…yet does things like this.

But such are the men who wish to be associated with this pontiff.

My take, for what its worth; Those utterances are coming from a man who is receiving the Holy Blessed Sacrament in an unworthy manner. Might do the fella good to begin a practice of daily examination of conscience. Get to the box. Listen to the confessor.
Do penance. Pray.

Mr. Lafferty’s menu of pieces at Muckrack make him look like a DNC press agent. (Objections to CRT are a ‘moral panic’ &c).

He’s currently employed as an apparatchik at the University of Toronto. (He’d wanted to be a faculty member, but there’s evidently no demand in Wokademia for his subdiscipline; Daniel Larison ran into the same wall). I’m sure there are people of character employed in the higher ed apparat who aren’t accountants or construction managers. Not sure I’ve ever met one…

There are a lot of traditionalist cues in this picture, such as the paten and the little we can see of the vestments. Definitely the veil and the woman’s posture are cues as well. The veil in particular provides a visual cue which has no male equivalent.

A layman should approach the altar submissively. No doubt. Male or female. In a society where we discourage male masculinity and female femininity, a submissive female pose is also a visual cue in a way that a man properly receiving the Eucharist wouldn’t be. I don’t mean anything weird by that. It’s also true that we connect more strongly to attractive people, and she’s pretty. Ugly dudes can receive reverently, myself included. But we wouldn’t have the same effect within a composition.

I guess I wonder what the photo is being used for. A family? A lipstick ad? A diocesan blog? “Date Catholic women in your area”?

This guy is disgusting making innuendos about the sacred host. Something is wrong with him. Even if he thought it, why on earth would he put it out there for the world to read and scandalise others. He is vile.

The wearing of veils applies to this subject. The whole thing about wearing veils goes back to the Church at Corinth. The problem with the meat offered to idols was that it was part of pagan idol worship that included sexual orgies. If a woman wore her hair down it was to signal that she was sexually available. Proper women wore their hair bound. St Paul was trying to maintain the purity of Christian worship and to protect it from being debased by pagan worship practices.
