The criminalization of dueling electoral slates is a sign that politics is becoming war. It was not a smart tactic by the Trump forces, but actions in politics are often not smart and they should not be turned into felonies by partisan witch hunters. When politics becomes another means of waging war, it is a short hop to civil war.

In re our conversation the other day, we’re beginning to resemble late Bourbon France. A stew of privilege, rent-seeking, and institutional decay and a ruling class chock-a-block with sexual transgressors who have neither knowledge of or concern for ordinary people.
The partisan Democrats of my acquaintance haven’t a clue and have no fixed principles, just improvisations which justify despising who they’re told to despise. (The one exception is my Bernie Bro cousin, who may be wrong but does in fact have fixed principles).
There will be a peaceful attempt by some states / counties to leave. It will fail.
What comes afterwards will not be pretty but necessary. So be it.
Count on the USCCB to completely align with the Feds. You can bet on that.
