LQC. I couldn’t agree more with your comments. Unfortunately, it’s going to get worse, much worse. These people deny that the abuse scandal was and continues to be a predatory homo issue. Until that filth is removed from the priesthood at all levels, nothing will change. Already over $4 billion paid out for homo abuse claims just in the US. Think about how that money could have been used.

I was surprised to see Bishop Rhoades name on the list of attendees. He was bishop for the Harrisburg diocese some years ago, and I thought a liturgical conservative. He moved to South Bend (i.e. Notre Dame) some 10 years or so ago. Maybe the academic influence is corrupting.
Being on the list isn’t proof that a person is wrong. I’m a fan of Bishop Barron and Archbishop Gregory. And, to Clinton’s comment, no one I knew in the Archdiocese of Washington seems to have known about Cardinal McCarrick. (Sure, if I were having a synod, I’d have made a different list.)

If you were a regular reader of Ignatius Press’ Off the Record blog, you would be aware that there was sotto voce discussion of McCarrick’s conduct as early as 2005. Most of the Diogenes posts were written by the late Fr. Paul Mankowski, SJ. So, Fr. Mankowski in Chicago and Philip Lawler and Domenico Bettinelli up in Boston have heard discussions of McCarrick’s conduct but his roommate in DC hasn’t.
