I’m reminded of what happened at the end of the USSR, when there was an attempted military coup against Gorbachev, which fell flat (along with the USSR). I don’t think you do mere “shows of force” against someone like Putin: this is a case of (as Yoda would put it) “There is no ‘try'”.

The Wagner head feels he’s been had by Putin and the Russian Defense Ministry. A lack of ammo and equipment has made his mercenaries canon fodder for the Ukrainians. Plus the Russians fired on his own troops. To threaten Moscow could mean the commander is in communication with other rebels. The war with Ukraine is not popular with many Russians. Just hope and pray there are no finger prints of Biden’s CIA on this.

Just hope and pray there are no finger prints of Biden’s CIA on this.

The CIA provided employment for the likes of Aldrich Ames, John Brennan, and Michael Scheuer. Ames was repeatedly promoted during his time there and Brennan made it all the way to the top.

See Reuel Marc Gerecht on the subject of the CIA as he knew it during his time there. In his account, promotions are determined by the number of sources you develop. They don’t assess if the sources tell you anything useful.
