Forrest’s masterpiece. Go here to read about it. Military genius is a quality put into a man by God, no amount of education can create it. Confederates used to say that Forrest’s commission as a General was signed by Jefferson Davis and the Lord God Almighty.
So sad that Forrest along with every other Confederate of historical note is a now a victim of SJW cancel culture. Perhaps someday this absurdity will be reversed.
Forrest brought it on himself by not disassociating with the KKK until later on. He would have saved his own reputation and that of reconstruction South had he spoken up at the start. Of course, there still remains the question of the Ft. Pillow massacre.
The Fort Pillow massacre is filled with contradictions with many sources stating that it was Forrest who stopped the massacre. Then there is this:

Please read Forrest’s speech to the Polebears Association of Memphis. He was heavily criticized for this speech by some of the more radical white groups. Of course, maybe he was lying, which we can say about everyone. Kindly remember, the winners of wars usually write the history books; there exists a lot of false or exaggerated information. As originally conceived, the KKK wasn’t the evil organization it became at which time Forrest dissociated himself. This speech and his dissociation make the treatment given to the bodies of him and his wife more than 100 years after their deaths most unfortunate.
