Back When We Had a Pope and a President
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Even though Reagan wasn’t Catholic, I consider him our only Catholic president.
Certainly a better Catholic than Kennedy or Biden.
Oh this photo is everything. Reagan was a gentleman. A true man and leader. I’ll be showing this post to my husband who loves RR (and St JP2 ofcourse).
I shared this post on FB. As I commented there, I voted for Reagan both times. And I converted to Catholicism under the Pontificate of Pope St. JP II. If the Caudillo currently on St. Peter’s Seat had been Pope back in the 80s, then I wouldn’t have bothered. And Biden? What a disgusting loathsome parody of a Catholic!
Certainly a better Catholic than Kennedy or Biden.
Well, we’ve had Presidents who observed the canons of bourgeois dignity in their mundane lives (Coolidge, Hoover, Truman, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Bush II, and (gag) Obama. Reagan regrettably failed with his children, as did Ford and Carter to a lesser degree). The Bidens are such a stew of pathology they’re making the Kennedys look respectable.
