A humble engineer, I think I can visualize the lawyerly debate:
“He’s in violation of the no work outside contract..”
“Actually, he’s not working, it’s free content Twitter.”
“He’s dressed for work, he’s in front of a set, he’s…”
“-Really counselor…”
“If we find out he’s working…”
“- I assure you counselor he’s not. He has a substantial monthly income, no need to work. (& we thank you for it.)

I watch FoxNews for 30 minutes each night to catch “Gutfeld” before I conk out.

Otherwise, if I’m not too busy doing nothing [retired], I put on Fox Business at 1559 hours to catch the closing numbers [only to be consistent in my ratios] and stay one hour to watch Larry Kudlow. He’s a mensch.

Carlson is the smartest man in media.

They got him for exposing their [both sides] myriad big lies.

I like him. He makes a lot of sense. And he will be better off leaving Fox.

Anything Murdoch touches turns to rubbish. Murdoch’s political principles begin and end with $$$ and power. Nothing more. Mark my words when Murdoch Senior passes, you’ll want to bring out the popcorn, as it will get ugly between the sons James (a lefty) and Lachlan (unknown political allegiance). Not to mention the Chinese-spy wife added into the mix, who was cunning enough to have 2 daughters with Murdoch Senior and cement her claws in the family dynasty.

I remember, decades ago, when National Review was promoting Ted Turner’s new venture, CNN, as an independent, tell it like it is, news voice. That didn’t last long either.

He was always just a narcissistic nut. Yes and he managed to find his equal in Jane Fonda for a while.

As a side, I think Turner should bear blame for the current state of the media because he introduced the 24 hour news cycle which forced continual content from MSM – regardless of the quality of the content. It forced news outlets to churn out stories, regardless of whether the stories were newsworthy. So today you get continual brain numbing news stories 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from nearly every major news broadcaster and digital media outlet. Nothing is truly “breaking news” anymore because it’s cnr sully “break news”.

I don’t recall Turner ca. 1985 declared for any political ideology. It was subsequent to that he began plumping for globaloney.

See the controversies over Eason Jordan ca. 2004. CNN was already a troubled network at that date. Turner hasn’t owned CNN since 1996. It’s a reasonable wager that his departure has been one vector promoting its decay over the years.

If you reread Milton’s Areopagitica, the purpose of a “free press” was never “truth”, but the right of advance an opinion discountenanced by the powers of Church and State. Even champions of press freedom, like Johnson and Chesterton in Britain, De Tocqueville and Balzac in France, decried partisanship that too often descended into lying as far back as the 18th century. Chesterton lamented his discovery that the newspapers were just the hobbies of a few rich men, observing “We have no fear of censorship of the press in England, not when we have so much censorship by the press”. Our current problems are (1) excessive consolidation, (2) the progressive monopoly of the education of our ruling class, resulting in a monoculture of opinion, (3) too few working-class journalists rising from the gumshoe beats instead of the schools of journalism. The last were often more interested in pulling down the powerful than advancing the cause of truth, but the effects were often the same.

What he said from instapundit.

Calling most debates in mainstream media “unbelievably stupid” and meaningless, Carlson said in a short viral video, “And yet, at the same time… the undeniably big topics, the ones that will define our future, get virtually no discussion at all.” He listed some, “War, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, corporate power, natural resources — when was the last time you heard a legitimate debate about any of those issues? It’s been a long time.”

Carlson continued, “Debates like that are not permitted in American media. Both political parties and their donors have reached consensus on what benefits them, and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it.”

“Suddenly, the United States looks very much like a one-party state,” he added. “That’s a depressing realization. But it’s not permanent.”

Could this be true?

Over at Zero Hedge a former US Army psyops specialists said they fired Tucker in order to maintain a semi-lobotomized, semi-retarded population.
