Thought For The Day

Yeah, Mein Kampf, was the unread best seller of the Third Reich.  The Nazis knew it.  At a Nazi conference laughter broke out when no hands were raised to the question: “Who has gotten all the way through Mein Kampf?”  Hitler’s screed is a bit like listening to a boring uncle with crazy ideas, who makes your eyes glaze over in nothing flat. Even in Germany there was always a touch of the comic opera about Hitler, at least until it was too late and people saw what a street corner ranter could do when given control of a World Power.

Very few self proclaimed Marxists have made their way through much of the writings of Marx, a bad writer for the ages.  Compulsory classes on Marxism were the bane of Soviet students, usually taught by rote by the worst teachers.

Most ideology of course is window dressing for the will to power, one of the baser elements in our  human makeup.

Why in the world is Strunk & White’s Elements of Style on a list of ‘dangerous’ books? When did trying to write clear, comprehensible English become a subversive act?

Hitler made million$s from royalties from his book – mainly because all brides and grooms had to have a copy at their weddings. I do hope Jorge’s minions don’t discover this and decree similar requirements re: Amoris Laetitia to save the floundering Vatican Bank.

Hitler was not “given control of a World Power”. Hitler destroyed anything or anybody who got in his way.
