For the bigots at National Geographic to whom “equity” means women and blacks whether they know anything about geography. Of course the idea that all groups will do equally well in all facets of human existence is refuted by the experience of all humans who ever lived prior to this time of madness.
Too Male and Too Indian

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Jill Tiefenthaler, the current head honcho at the National Geographic Society, knows bloody well that the composition of the winner’s circle of the GeoBee (founded when she was in graduate school at Duke) has nothing to do with ‘racial injustice’. It’s just another example of the pathological other-directedness of our professional-managerial stratum. They all pretend to take this cr!p seriously even when they do not. Meanwhile, the agencies they misgovern have their objects distorted and disfigured.
One “culture” says get your game on. Practice and make the sports team. Never mind the spelling test. Another “culture” says the opposite.
The race baiting DEI commissars then demand “racial equity” or “gender equity” while destroying a country built on meritocracy & hard work, sports and study.
David WS: Maybe all the girls are at the spelling bees?
Not sure what you mean by saying this country was built on sports.
NG has been going Woke for the past decade. Seems like it has finally reached its desired goal. Problem for them is that their magazine is now little more than a gussied up version of the Sunday travel section of a major newspaper. This extends especially to their completely unscientific comments on climate.
They ignore both climate (not weather) history and meteorology to the point of being little more value than checking with wooly worms and squirrel habits to determine the severity of the next winter.
Maybe sportsmanship.
These individuals are being used and abused to show how fair and wonderful National Geographic is. These individuals ought to be paid for making the commercial. Work without pay is slavery.
Tom B., What I was trying to say is that black American culture puts a premium on making the sports team, asian American culture puts a premium on making the math team.

This discontinuing is a bloody shame (I was the state champion for Kentucky in 2001, didn’t make it past the qualifiers at the national round).
An interesting question for this contingent – how many were home schooled? (I was not, but a fair number of my fellow competitors at the time were.)
I’m reminded of when the Air Force Times ran an article about the first-ever all-woman air refueler mission. I remember thinking that if men and women were genuinely equal, they wouldn’t have need to make a press release about it. There are some things I don’t miss about the Air Force….
