Being deliberately obtuse is a form of arrogance that is befitting a gangsta, but completely out of line for the leader of the Catholic Church.

I guess your right.

All you can do is pitifully laugh and pray for the man.

Unreal.

Talk is cheap. Francis emits whatever platitudinous word salad he thinks his audience wants to hear at the time, and his gassing on has pretty much zero relation to what he really thinks or intends. It’s a shiny toy dangled in his left hand to distract saps from what his right hand is doing.

If you really want to know what Francis believes, and what he intends to do, look at:

1). Who he chooses to implement his decisions (Roche) and who he dismisses from office (Burke).
2). Who has his ear (Fr. Jimmy Martin SJ) and who he ignores and isolates (Zen).
3). Who he promotes (McElroy) and who he publicly degrades (Mueller, Canizares-Llovera, Archbishop Ganswein, etc.)
4). Who he protects (Fr. Rupnik) and who he abandons (Pell).

Yes he clearly doesn’t get it. I’m not sure how much he is emotionally invested in his role as Pope beyond the status.

I find most people who generally don’t care or worry about how their decisions/words/actions impact their stakeholders and play out their role removed of that, then they have an inability to understand their role and perform their role well. I feel like the Pope is very much like this. It should upset him if he has marginalised the traditionalists, however it doesn’t. That’s a shame really.
