They are devout followers of Christ and the true Catholic Church teachings. Of course he would go after them.

Even I know you don’t mess the cloistered. Nor widows or orphans.
By their fruits, you will know them

They want the properties these holy women own. The pattern has been consistent with the Vatican thugs as well as their counterparts in formerly Catholic countries all over Europe. They chase the women out and confiscate their real estate. The lowest circle of Hell awaits these men if they don’t repent.

Similarly, the Devil and Count Dracula hate Holy Water.

I think Frank is on to a major portion of the issue; cloisters are easier to sell-off than churches in order to address the Vatican’s significant financial woes. There is also a demographic/sociological component. There is a deep desire to confederate houses to make up for lost vocations, moving younger, more conservative houses into the older, liberal cloisters. Abetting this a Card. Aviz who has expressed a dislike for the cloistered life.

Situations like this need a white knight or two. Nuts to the official real estate nonsense and invite the evicted sisters onto private land by private parties. Does it have the patina of their old school cloister? No. Will they be free from forcible mingling – yes. When you think about it, forcible mingling with those outside your order is about as antithetical to cloistered life as you can get!
