Francis is usually motivated by his hates: traditional Catholics, conservatives of all stripes, Americans, etc. It is unfortunate when an individual goes through life like this; it is a catastrophe when such a man is elected Pope. Heckuva job Conclave of 2013, heckuva job.
His disdain for so much of the Catholic Religion became crystal clear in very short order after he became Pontiff. Does Francis ever use the words “Catholic Church”? I have not heard him or read a quote where he has used them. Odd.

I’m glad you noted the anti-gringo habits of the Holy Father in your list. It really stands out in stark contrast to the others because it doesn’t seem to be based upon or justified by any religious or theological ideas. The others have (invalid) justifications but the Vatican gets to pretend we are the cause of our own destruction; not so with the hatred of Americans. That’s Pope Francis’ cultural roots, his unaddressed prejudices.
If only Francis were an isolated phenomenon, but look around and you’ll see that virtually every organization is headed by an individual or group who seems to despise the org and its mission. Roger Goodell seems to hate the game of football as much as Rob Manfred hates baseball. Bob Iger seems to hate everything Disney ever stood for. The CEO of Dick’s sporting goods hates outdoorsmen. I thought it was jarring and incoherent when America elected Barack Obama, a man who clearly despised everything the country stood for as well as its people, but his haughty derision is now the norm. I call it kakistocracy, and it is the true bane of our age.

Many years ago, a retired, substitute parish priest at my
church stated to the congregation during Mass that the
pre-Vatican II church, which was, in his opinion, an intolerant,
racist, bigoted, homophobic and misogynistic church, had been
replaced with a progressive Vatican II church and with a new
Mass. In other words, the church established by Christ does not
exist, and a new progress church established by the clergymen
of Vatican II had replaced that church. That is in keeping with
Bergoglio’s vision of a new, more tolerant, progressive Catholic
Church, which will not permit any practices of the obsolete
pre-Vatican II church. I, also, find it interesting that, weeks
before Bergoglio outlawed the Latin Mass, the Marxist FBI
declared that traditional Latin Mass Catholics are white
supremacists and terrorists. Are they working together?
