Thank you! DH is a cradle Catholic and had never heard of Shrove Tuesday and could not understand why I wanted to go to IHOP today, Tuesday, as oppose to Thursday–which would be a more convenient day to go (except we are likely to be iced in on Thursday.)

(DS#3 does not like my pancakes. Or really any of my cooking…)
Sure would be nice if parishes actually offered confession times today. A search of parishes in our diocese comes up nearly empty despite over one million registered Catholics on the books. I’m going out on a limb to guess that your best and maybe only chance of finding confessions on this day will be to find one of those nasty places where those dangerous traditionalists gather. Way to go, Bishops. Another element of true Catholicism tossed on the ash heap known as the post-conciliar Church.
FYI, Today’s “Presidents” post has an issue of some kind that keeps crashing my mobile browser.
Ditto. Although, to be honest, it has been quite some time since I made pancakes (aka “hot cakes” to some of my relatives) from scratch, as is my intention. I only hope that my poor husband will not have a truly penitential experience at dinner. (BTW, the demon of Autocorrupt is comfortable with the word “penitentiary”, but knows not the word “penitential”. Figures.)
Bon Appetite Don!
Agree Frank. It’s difficult to find a local Church which offers confession on a Tuesday or any other day midweek. Not sure what the Parish priests are busy doing…

Maybe its ‘Golf Day’ to build an appetite for pancakes, Ezabelle.

😂
Those of German descent may be familiar with the fastnacht, a traditional donut (so basically the same ingredients as a pancake) whose name translates as “fast night”.
