In the first decade of the last century the intensely anti-clerical French government sent out a letter to all French commanding officers ordering them to report on all officers under their command who attended Mass. Then Colonel Petain had lapsed in the Faith but he reported back that he could not comply with the order since he was always in the first pew and, as a result, he did not see the other officers attending Mass. Our Bishops would do well to respond in a similar manner to this attempt to have them turn snitch.

Perhaps a bishop could say he was offering Mass ad orientem and couldn’t see who was there.
This has to be the Babylon Bee. This sick joke of a pontificate thinks Latin Mass goers will respond to some she/her bishop telling them all the benefits of going to the NO? Seriously? I’m guessing they’ve already had their fill of horrible, distracting music and watered down Protestant homilies taking place in convention halls. Good luck Cardinal Roach.
“Less than fifty thousand. We have started offering free studies in Latin, perhaps we’ll have a better number soon.”
Cardinal Roche has been very clear from day 1 that eradication of the TLM is paramount. Frankly, I would not be surprised to find out years from now that he and Msgr. Bugnini were from the same Masonic lodge.
Are American bishops agents of a foreign head of state? Yes.
They are chosen, promoted, assigned and retired by one person and one person only, the Bishop of Rome. All accomplished through his nuncio in WDC. The selection process is unclear, purposefully so.
It is what it is.
Roche hates the old Mass, but at least he’s consistently hated his heritage. He did his best to obstruct SP when he was bishop of Leeds. He’s a Bergoglio company man on the issue from conviction.
If you remember the film Major League, any bishop with Catholic integrity should do with Roche’s paperwork what Manager Lou Brown did to 3B Roger Dorn’s contract.
Petain was an honorable man. His subsequent actions in WW II were of a man past his competence and judgement. A good example for even our own time.
