Too many Western Elites favor a form of State slavery for the rest of us. Completely dependent upon the State for shelter; fed as cheaply as possible with insect supplements; private vehicles a thing of the past; and the family and the church dying anachronisms. 1984 would seem almost libertarian in contrast to this. It does seem like Huxley’s Brave New World come terribly alive. What obvious Bond villains these would be oligarch jackals are.

The selflessness of these people in foregoing greater happiness by accumulating wealth, employing security to guard their privacy and consuming meat at lavish meetups in Davos is truly inspiring. Perhaps the current Vatican leadership should consider canonizations for such heroic virtue.

The Libertarian party promises us a renewal of the county’s original virtues of freedom and prosperity. Unfortunately that would require hard work at the individual level and the abolition of statism. I am not encouraged about future prospects.
