House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R.Ca.) wants to be Speaker of the House. Trump supports McCarthy. McCarthy does not have the votes. A compromise is being talked of where Trump would be Speaker for the first hundred days, to be followed by McCarthy. I have a hard time believing this would occur. However, the last few years have taught me that my imagination is often surprised by the mad reality we are living through. Only one President has been Speaker of the House, James K. Polk. No one has been President and then been Speaker of the House, and Trump loves setting precedents.
Speaker of the House Trump?
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 41 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
This would be so great! Even if it was just for a day … liberal heads would explode!
McConnell’s betrayal of the Republican caucus and Republican voters have manufactured a problem for McCarthy.
Rank speculation such as this takes attention away from the real task of Republicans in January. That is to reverse the fiscal policies of this administration which are rapidly driving the country into penury. Unfortunately, the $1.7T budget bill now being passed, with the help of a dozen renegade Republicans is driving us faster toward national bankruptcy.
It’d take nearly 100% of the GOP House members to do it, and it would tar each of them. 2024 would be all about Trump, and the Republicans would knock themselves out of power for a good decade. Of course this is something that “could” happen in the same sense that the House could pick you or me, and they’re equally likely to.
2024 would be all about Trump,
That is going to be the case Pinky no matter what is done. As for the outcome of the 2024 elections that will depend on how the economy is doing and how quickly the GOP learns the new techniques pioneered by the Democrats to “enhance” their votes. In California the GOP have mastered this black art.
CAG, I was reflecting upon the sad lot of the Congessional cleaning staff, but you beat me to it.
Pass the popcorn
Is there still hope after the voters of Georgia have elected a communist leaning supporter of baby murder to the Senate? I acknowledge his opponent was a dufus, but he would have voted correctly. If alive, I would happily vote for Trump again, but this seems to be a bad strategy. If they keep messing around, they may end up with a Democrat.
