I recall the glee with which my daughter as a teenager would report when she would hear a raccoon climbing up the side of our house, outside of her window, lose its footing and scream going down.
Raccoons don’t do that for no reason. Highly likely it was rabid. Raccoons have a high incidence of rabies because they will eat carrion. Especially in the spring, when infected dead animals thaw out.
