Why Yes, Chicago Is Having a Mayoral Election In A Few Months
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 41 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Heard elsewhere: could have been the Construction company or a worker to get Veterans Day off.
Around about 1997, there was a blow up at an elementary school in the Bushwick district of Brooklyn. There had been a leafleting campaign calling for a protest meeting at the school to which the principal of the school agreed to host and to call in the teacher whose conduct they were protesting so the teacher could explain herself. The teacher was not informed beforehand she would be dragooned into the meeting in order to face a three-digit population of angry black parents. The issue was that the teacher had read the book Nappy Hair to her students.

The reporters and editors of Time magazine concluded the article by noting that six weeks earlier, a meeting at the school on test scores had drawn six people.
I had to look up what nappy hair meant. Lord Jesus, please save us from ourselves. So people got offended by this?
Nappy Hair is a book written by Carolivia Herron and illustrated by Joe Cepeda. In the “call and response” style of African American story and song, Nappy Hair presents a character whose family helps her appreciate her curly, “nappy” hair and take pride in her African heritage.
So don’t call red heads “carrot tops” or “ginger” and balding men “baldy.” Somebody may get offended.
Mr. McClarey, I think I know how you feel being in downstate Illinois.
Up to 30 years ago, Illinois used to be “the three states of Illinois”, with Chicago, its suburbs, and the rest of the state. As Chicago and its suburbs decided to vote the same way, the rest of Illinois is trashed.
Philadelphia and its suburbs are trashing us. Philadelphia is nearly as lawless and violent as Chicago. Now that the Democrats (barely) have the Pennsylvania House, the derelict Larry Krasner will escape impeachment.
Pennsylvania deserves its fate.
