Lioness Closes In
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 41 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
With essentially all 14 other AZ counties‘ results in, but only about 60% of Maricopa County, which has roughly 2.5 million total registered voters, have been counted; and the likelihood is Kari Lake takes the lioness’ share of those remaining lean-mostly-conservative voters by at least a 60-40 margin.
The Republican side supposedly has heavy numbers of observers this time to try to prevent the mysterious 2020 occurrences of late “found” mail-in ballot bundles: but as Ben Shapiro says in the other posting here at TAC, there is basically zero reason that Maricopa Co. should take days to count, and there should be no ballot-counting “stops.”
On another note, it is very depressing that the highly pro-abortion up-to-including-birth Proposition 3 in Michigan apparently has passed by 400,000 votes. MI is supposed to have 1.8 million Catholics (of course not all of those are registered legal-age voters), and there were 1.8 million votes against Prop. 3. I wonder if a more robust effort by the Michigan Catholic dioceses in union with the evangelical churches might have been able to raise enough of a ground swell to defeat it. It didn’t seem like a very strenuous effort to me.
Steve Phoenix.
A collective approach to fighting for the defeat of 3 might of made the difference. Catholics in our neck of the woods did door to door canvassing, rallies and in service training for canvassers that were in need of help. What about the other Church’s? Nothing. No campaigns like the Fight Like Heaven one which came from Lansing diocese.
Your point is good.
It might have made the difference.
As far as Catholics?
Until the Bishops unite and lead the faithful by stern measures regarding voting for abortion candidates I can’t see a huge change in attitude.
I thought that the open ended proposal and the non- parental consent for both the possibilities of abortion and sterilization would shock enough concerned parents to join in a NO vote.
What I did see was some exorbitant $ thrown in to television ads which made the unaware citizen seem foolish to vote anything but yes.
Money may have made a huge difference in this battle for the unborn.
The overall response of Catholic Bishops and laity to child-murder initiates is disgusting. The dogmatic position may remain unchanged; but reality says otherwise and can best be characterized as neutral.! The only serious opening for promoting protection for the unborn came as a result of the actions of the seriously flawed Donald Trump. Unified action by Catholic Bishops and laity may have stopped the slaughter of 60 million unborn children since 1973. Lord have mercy.
There was virtually no anti-3 money and it was weaksauce.
Prop 3 was passed with soothing lies about “Restoring” the abortion status quo. But abortion is now protected in Michigan the same way religion is under RFRA. “Least restrictive means.” It will gut most of what Michigan has on the books.
It really is the left’s sacrament now.
Money would have helped, but the decay of the Church is such that going all out by the bishops wouldn’t have changed the score.
Plus, when the head of your religion endorses a pro-abort for one of his advisory councils, honest people can question how sincere Catholic opposition is.

Yes..True.
We…in the trenches…fight on.
Bishop Boyea from Lansing, reached out to other dioceses, including ours in Northern Michigan. We had an combined effort but obviously it wasn’t enough to turn hearts.
Here is his address today;

Did any of us hear from the pulpit at Nov. 5th or 6th Masses “Please vote! When you vote, vote only for pro-life candidates. You will be saving lives when you do.” I didn’t hear anything about the election. Nada. This year no comparison of candidates on life and death views were attached to the bulletin unlike in previous years. Where were most of the US bishops on pro-life and the election?
CAM.
To answer your question.
Yes.
We were the exception.
Yes. Loudly and clearly our pastor, without fear from any blowback, spoke the truth.
Remarkable man.
We are blest to have him as a true shepherd.
Philip N.,

[…] KARI LAKE BEAT THE ARIZONA […]
Thanks Tito.
Big Polish community here in Cedar Michigan. Our hobby farm is dedicated to Our Lady of Jansa Gora.
My mom’s birthday fell on September 7th. On Sept. 8th the 300th anniversary of the crowning Our Lady of Jansa Gora by the caretakers of the Icon, Pauline monks, at that time, was in 2017.
In dedication to Our Lady, and in memory of my mom, I had Fr. Libby bless the 12 acres on that anniversary.
My brother Greg is the artist who made a reproduction of the Icon for the gable of our new pole barn. The avatar is a close-up of that painting.
Miracle image indeed.
I love the history of the Icon and the Swedes inability to capture the castle where the Icon was housed.
Remarkable story.
[St. Luke…tablecloth…original work?]
Since we never truly own anything…we just lease…I wanted Our Lady to know that this is her property. My self included. She owns me too.
On lease until the rightful owner calls us in.
So now at 4 PM Arizona time, 11/9, Real Clear Politics . com reports with 72.5% of the votes counted, Kari Lake is now behind by roughly 4000 votes, 920815 Hobbs, 907832 Lake.
Trending is looking good.
Philip…my favorite Icon of Our Lady.
Another member of the Polish Diaspora here. Going to the Polishfest in Oakland (Pittsburgh) Sunday after Mass.
My wife doesn’t make golubki or pierogi or haluski. My babcia used to, she has been gone 10 years.
