PopeWatch: Phew! That Was Close!

Too often the denizens of the Vatican act as if nothing  else matters but the Vatican, and the Laity often seem to be at the bottom of their list of things that do not matter

A young Burgess Meredith did a Twilight Zone episode, “time Enough At Last.” He was the sole survivor of nuclear war, who was delighted to find that the books in the public library had also survived the blast. And now, with no one else left to interrupt him, he would now have plenty of time to read all he wanted.

The bishops knew that Vatican I had been interrupted by the war in Italy. Imagine if Vaican II had also been interrupted by a war in Cuba. Or maybe the Council would have continued in the rubble?
