The Transfiguration gave us the merest fragment of that glory and mystery which ever lights our way in this Vail of Tears. I think my love of history was sparked by a search for what is permanent in this life that is granted to each of us. After reading thousands of volumes of history I find that human history contains in it almost nothing which is permanent except for Christ.
