Wonderful performance. Barenboim is amazing. He is seemingly everywhere at once in the classical music world. I wonder when he sleeps.
Remember the Pastoral in Fantasia (Leopold Stokowski)? I saw this at the age of 10 (the movie when it premiered in 1940) and whenever I hear the Pastoral, images of fauns, nymphs, drunken Bacchus, deer come to mind.
“Remember the Pastoral in Fantasia (Leopold Stokowski)?”
Yes! That was my favorite part of Fantasia, which I first saw in full on VHS video in about 1985. Sometimes I wish animation technology would go back to the way Disney Studios used to do it, before CGI.
