There isn’t much that might appear too crazy for me to doubt its truth when it come to this pope. His long time patterns of questionable behavior tend to remove man’s resistance to doubt the next unbelievable rumor that comes along. So who knows?
I first stated to friends that this might happen 4 years ago. I hope it’s just rumor.
Counter-argument: the idea that he of all people would share power is impossible to believe. He’s not a sharer, not even with a “vice-pope.”
Unlikely. I believe he thinks that his appointments to the College of Cardinals will accomplish the desired result without causing needless controversy.
I don’t think Pope Frankie understands WHO’s in charge.
Weird.
Maybe so . I think he is not really rational, but his darkened intellect is very clever.
Maybe he got the idea from JPII and Ratzinger. I mean, it was “de facto”… maybe he wants something more “de jure”?
But how did that work out? Lol. Church politics sucks no matter what. I joined the church despite the shit politics and I never expect it to really get any better.
I was thinking of this post in conjunction with the “Heterodox Tears Are Sweet” post from the other day. What is going on in the Church at the highest levels seems to be happening everywhere in liberal circles: increased authoritarianism. It’s like in the 60’s they couldn’t imagine everyone wouldn’t welcome the “Catholicism Lite” of vernacular masses, lightened restrictions and happy talk. Especially those liberty-loving Americans. Now that many of the most serious Catholics have said “no we don’t want that,” they have had to impose this from the top.
Maybe “loving liberty” didn’t mean what they thought it meant. To us, I mean.
Previous Popes have changed the election process. It was last changed by JP2. So the apparent current “pope” could change the rules too. It could be anything. Rule #1 – whoever pays the most money becomes the Coadjutor of the Bishop of Rome. It could be anything…
“In the Catholic Church, a coadjutor is a bishop with papal appointment as an immediate collaborator of the diocesan bishop in the governance of a diocese, with authority to substitute for the diocesan bishop in his absence and right to automatic succession to the diocesan see upon death, resignation, or transfer of the incumbent diocesan bishop.”
That would give the Church three people being referred to as “a” Pope. Very Trintianian.
off-topic, but here’s to LaBeouf becoming a “rad-trad”, lol
La Beouf to Barron: “Latin mass affects me deeply. Because it feels like they’re not selling me a car.“
