With due respect, Father, the sooner you and your entire cohort are out of the picture, the better for all of us. May the Lord have mercy on all the destroyers.
Every July St. Rocco Church Glen Cove, NY holds a very nice four
day festival of St. Rocco.
The priests that run the parish and its youth group have a large booth where two very young priests and teen devotees push, among other Catholic devotions [GASP] the Most Holy Rosary Of The Blessed Virgin Mary on all that will listen.
May your despair in this life, Fr. Hoban, not be matched or exceeded in the next. While you draw breath, there is still time.
This man is a cuck and a doofus. I despair of his fashion sense, and so does Mr. Rogers.
I’ve never heard a priest before who was explicitly anti-vocations.
Watching the video of Father Hoban I am reminded of the Mike and the Mechanics song The Living Years–a man and his father have generational differences and don’t see eye to eye on things.
.
My 75-year-old SIL told me a story of when she was a child: One Sunday, she brushed her teeth and rinsed out her mouth and drank some water accidentally (Oh! The HORROH!!) before Mass. This prompted a panicked phone call by her father to the parish priest to see if she could still take Communion or maybe it was just best to leave her home (this was before Vat II, so the Tridentine Rite was still celebrated).
.
Weakland, Untenar, McCarrick, Maciel, Geoghan–these guys were all pre-Vat II. I’m not surrprised that a lot of well-meaning older folks are aghast at the thought of “TLM” and all the trappings that went with it.
.
I don’t know this particular priest–he may well be exceptionally heterodox: pro-contraception/abortion, divorced/remarriage, and married priests and all that, but I want to hear his stories first.
.
Having said that–older folks need to let the younger ones dress in black, celebrate the Tridentine Rite, pray the Rosary in Latin in peace, and denounce sinw ith gusto. It may be just what the rest of younger folks want. It is certainly no worse than the last Novus Ordo I . . . witnessed? ‘Cuz I’m pretty sure “assisted” isn’t the right term for what happened.
