That a journalist said something stupid is a dog bites man story. That a man promoted 9x within the Air Force and then tapped to run not one but two intelligence agencies in successio said something like this is deeply disturbing. What takes a bit of the edge off it is something Frank pointed out, which is that he had a stroke four years ago and it did real damage, though it appears that his aphasia is not so severe that he cannot use Twitter. OTOH, there’s that adage favored by an art teacher I once knew: “Things said while drunk have been thought out beforehand”.
