There was at least one major incident when he was Governor of Indiana where he sold out his base in the course of buckling to business lobbyists. (Asa Hutchinson does this as a matter of course). He’s too pliable and other-directed.

And you don’t need to ‘defund the FBI’. You need to erect a series of successor agencies each with a specialized book, fire 300 or so line employees of the most senior ranks (starting with Christopher Wray), review the personnel record of every employee who has spent more than six months employed in the counter-intelligence division and fire anyone up to any skulduggery, and require them all to record their interviews with subjects. You also need to scarify the federal criminal code and recalibrate its sentencing rules. You need in every department an inspectors-general corps among whom the salaried line employees are all over 55 and debarred from working anywhere but an inspector-general’s corps until they retire. You need harsh administrative and judicially-mediated penalties for misconduct among federal police and federal prosecutors. You need a rule that no one is employed as a lawyer in a U.S. Attorney’s office or in the specialized divisions reporting to the Attorney-General for more than 12 years in any bloc of 14.

He will never, ever recover from revealing his true colors while VP, especially in January 2020. Too bad no one tars and feathers anymore.

I don’t think he did anything troublesome in January of 2021 (no clue what you think happened in January 2020). Bitc* McConnell and his wife again demonstrated that they do not belong in high office, as did most members of Congress. Regrettably, nothing new.

He left the Church. Misguided. But his folly is not just his own – he was in a position such that his folly hurt the whole nation – heck, hurt the whole world (Afghanistan , Ukraine for example)… i know we are supposed to pray for those who hurt us, but it is difficult

You need mass dismissals or their crooks will dirty up the cleaner agencies. You also need to recompose the federal criminal code to give federal agents in cahoots with federal prosecutors (and our frequently awful judiciary) less with which to work.

It’s rather de trop to say he’s ‘not worth spit’. It is true that he seems absolutely zoned out, as if nothing the FBI had done in the last 30 years registered with him. This the agency which in 1992 sent a small army to arrest a man for failure to appear at a hearing which resulted from a weapons charge. The weapons charge resulted from him selling a sawed off shot gun to an agent provacateur. (Why would an inconsequential man living in the Idaho countryside be worth that allocation of manpower?). The small army places his home under siege, and in the course of it, fatally shoots two members of his family. And nothing happened to anyone in the FBI chain of command in the aftermath of this catastrophe. A prosecutor in Idaho wanted to bring charges against the FBI agent who killed those people, but was obstructed by the DoJ.
