The Law of course in countless ways tells you what to do with your body:
- Mandatory vaccinations.
- Mandatory masking.
- Laws against prostitution.
- Laws against illegal drugs.
- Laws against public nudity.
- Laws against selling yourself into slavery.
- Laws against public intoxication.
Leaving aside that in every abortion there is another body, another life involved, the argument from bodily autonomy has to be one of the stupidest arguments for abortion, as bodily autonomy has never been an absolute right.
Additionally, the Law places extreme burdens on parents for the benefit of their progeny. Abortion attempts to deny that the unborn are offspring unless wanted, but this is mere hand waving with no substance to it.
The Law also places burdens upon us in the form of taxes and other mechanisms for complete strangers.
It is only in the sole area of abortion that we pretend that we are each an island unto ourselves.

This case is another example of how we are not an island into ourselves. This young boy had no say in his right to life.

We also pretend that consent between a man and women to have sex is not mutual consent to the possibility of having a baby.
Contraception has made conception the enemy, abortion follows easily.
I remember one abortionist who converted. I have forgotten her name, but I will never forget what she said about the reason she had been so fervently in favor of abortion. She had an unplanned pregnancy and what she felt was that she had been cheated. She had been promised sex was an enjoyable activity without any consequences at all. Just a way to pass the time. And then she was pregnant, with looming obligations and sacrifice in her future. I wasn’t fair. Society had to take care of the problem because she had been promised that there would not be a problem. It was her right.
I have often pondered her words and I believe most people who are strongly in favor of abortion feel something similar. The contraception culture has made outlandish promises and they can only be kept by means of a sea of blood and the moral destruction of those who believed in them.
Pregnancy is viewed as an illness, the child as enemy.. all the weapons of modern medicine are arrayed against it: you might need pills (even those that cause may cancer), surgery, rubber gloves and devices.. to “protect” yourself.
What if you could identify times of fertility with 99% accuracy and abstain?
You can.
Whenever I hear a single/unmarried woman is pregnant, I loudly exclaim in a shocked voice to the Warden, “How did that happen!?”
Abortion is murder.
Bodily autonomy was already exercised. That’s how you ladies got pregnant in the first place!
Note that once you accept the unspoken premise that unborn children are invaders robbing nutrients from their mother in the womb, it is only a very short step to reach the conclusion that born children are forcing their parents to raise them and as such there should be a legal right to abandon them by the side of the road.
One reason that the generations since Gen X have been so disdainful of the older generations is that any parent who accepts the ideology of abortion also admits that their children are their enemies.

Schiavo. IIRC, she was in a nursing home, unconscious, given nutrition and hydration. Her family of origin wanted her given sustenance and her husband, a very dubious character, wanted her out of the way to marry his girlfriend.

False. She was not unconscious. She reacted to stimuli regularly in the way people with severe disabilities react.
The most recent stats that I have seen show that the diagnosis of a vegetative state is wrong 60% of the time.
I have worked in my profession with many with severe disabilities and have been the old that someone was a nonresponsive vegetable only to use my training to get them to respond to people, sound, & visual stimuli in a predictable fashion.
Archie Battersbee life is one of plenty of tragedy (starting with a lack of a father it seems).
However his brain had been rotting with necrosis, to the point they were using machines to cover nearly every bodily autonomous function that the brain normally regulates.
I say this as one who despises the British healthcare system, but the poor, poor child was dead long ago. Our tech has just advanced to the point we can now keep a simulacra of life going as long as we want. It’s not voodoo making the zombies, it’s modern medicine.
The most stupid comment of all: “No one has the right to use your body against your will.” How is murdering a pre-born human baby using another’s body?
Second most idiotic comment: “They cannot even harvest your organs after your death without your explicit, pre-mortem permission.” Yet they can harvest the organs and tissues of an aborted baby WHILE STILL ALIVE without his or her permission. Do they tell the mother they are going to sell her baby’s cut up body for a greater profit than the one she supported by paying for an abortion? Or tell her that her baby may still be alive while they cut him or her up?

Ezabelle, that’s why I support more privatized healthcare than government run – let those who wish to spend the funds they have the way they wish. Also why I believe abortion law, if it exists, should have a father “buy-in” clause – if the dad is willing to pay for the medical care and custody of the child, then he should be able to veto an abortion. (Though with his brain stem necrotizing, Archie was at Lazarus’ level. It would have taken literally Jesus to bring that kid back.)
