In fact, the last slave freed was not in June 1865, it was in December 1865 when the 13th Amendment forced emancipation on Beijing Biden’s elective state, Delaware.

Juneteenth is celebrated because 1865 is the last possible date… that slavery can be mentioned. Democrats and (their) Media purposely skip over:
– States that were the first to abolish slavery: Pennsylvania (1780), New Hampshire and Massachusetts (1783), Connecticut and Rhode Island (1784).
– Northern States being a hot bed of abolitionism.
– America didn’t just end slavery we fought a war to end it; more Americans died in that war than all other wars combined.
– It was the Democrats that owned slaves; in 1865 a Republican Army finally caught up with Democrats in West Texas.
To understand the Democratic Party one must understand that they seek Power.
And the ends justify the means, they think after all that they are morally superior and smarter than everyone.
For that they would kill children in the womb.
They still have black Americans in chains. By mental slavery.
What’s odd about Romney is that he’s among the most accomplished men in the post-war period to have been a competitive presidential candidate. Romney aside, the most accomplished have been (in rough descending order) Gen. Eisenhower, Donald Trump, Robert Kerrey, George Bush the Elder, and Stuart Symington. He’s been a dynamo all his life. Yet, he makes remarks like this. You cannot figure out if what’s behind it is mendacity or make-believe.
Even when he was still mentally competent, Biden was an appalling individual. I cannot imagine what basis Romney has for stating that Biden is a “genuinely good man”.

The most charitable explanation is that our political class is made up of bubble dwellers who listen only to each other but whose daily discourse consists of nutty group think. The trouble we face is that aside from our political elite, what do you have? The c-suite executives who knocked each other over to cave to the BLM grifters (among others), the general officer corps typified by Mark Milley, the higher ed apparat and the school apparat who are commissars attempting to enforce the crazy, the court system who gave you the J6 travesty and the twin horror of the Chavin case and the Noor case in Minneapolis, the mass entertainment mafia like the twits at Disney, the professional associations pushing the crazy like ‘transgenderism’ and attempting to silence guild opponents of it, the tech companies working to suppress dissent. Standing against that are… ineffectual grifters like Bit* McConnell. Someone once asked Ernest Hemingway how he went bankrupt. He says, ‘Gradually, then suddenly’. We’ve been experiencing the suddenly part the last several years. I cannot imagine how we get out of this.
