If someone has great power, it is good if they are down to earth. In the Superman stories Clark Kent was raised by a kindly Kansas farm couple, who helped instill in him values which aided him in not misusing his powers. Thomas entitled his memoir My Grandfather’s Son, in tribute to the rough hewn Catholic convert Myers Anderson, his maternal Grandfather, who raised Thomas and his brother, and who Thomas has referred to simply as the greatest man he ever knew:
I had no idea that Justice Thomas tours the USA anonymously in an RV every summer. I think that’s marvelous.
I cannot think of very many other DC figures who’d do something like that out of sheer enthusiasm for our nation and its people. I mean, can you imagine Pelosi touring ‘flyover states’ in an RV?
I hope he has security of some sort. Look what the crazy people were doing protesting outside of his house…… With their violent rhetoric I wouldn’t put it past someone to try to assassinate him or one of the other justices, to get another “one of their own” on the Court.
That being said, it’s very refreshing to read about Justice Thomas and his RV travel… would that we have more like him.

In a just world Justice Thomas, would be held up as an exemplar American. An archetype who represents what’s best about America and her people. May the Lord bless our nation with a thousand more like him in the years to come.
