High ranking US officers are in a profession that prizes patriotism. For this nation, presumably, they would lay down their lives. They then retire and become high paid shills, sometimes for foreign nations, all while taking pensions from this nation. A lot of what is wrong about the contemporary US is a lack of simple integrity and honesty among those at the top.
