When a “bouncer” doesn’t do his duty the innocent will suffer. Intimidation has won.
The battle isn’t over. Just a short retreat. A leader will step forward and speak in the face of a tyrannical China. The play along to get along is not a virtuous act. Praying for all Chinese Catholics in this period of compromise.
One must wonder if the message to the Church’s missionaries wasn’t, “Go forth and be abandoned”?
Francis is such a coward. Could you even imagine if he got hauled in for a few hours of questioning? He’d be giving everyone up. Wasn’t that actually the criticism of him in Argentina, that he was too friendly with the regime and ratted out some brother Jesuits?
Babylon Bee has really stepped up their game.
